Adult education project empowering dance and music educators to use vibration-based technologies for inclusive learning with deaf and hard-of-hearing adults.
Project Background & Rationale
Across Europe, adults with hearing impairments face significant barriers to participating in music and dance activities, mainly due to the lack of accessible teaching methods and insufficient pedagogical capacity among educators.
While vibration-based wearable technologies make it possible to feel music through the body, most dance and music educators lack the knowledge and skills to integrate these tools into inclusive adult education practices.
FEELBEAT responds to this gap by focusing on adult educators who work with deaf and hard-of-hearing learners and by developing a practical, low-cost and transferable training model that combines inclusive pedagogy, embodied rhythm learning and vibration-based technology.
Project Aim
The project aims to strengthen the competences of adult dance and music educators to teach inclusively by using vibration-based technologies, enabling adults with hearing impairments to feel rhythm, engage in dance and participate actively in cultural and social life.
Target Groups
Primary target group (Adult Education focus):
Dance and music educators working with deaf or hard-of-hearing adults
Trainers and facilitators in adult education centres, cultural organisations and NGOs
Secondary target group:
Adults with hearing impairments (18+) participating in pilot activities
Cultural and adult education institutions interested in inclusive practices
European Added Value
The project promotes cross-border cooperation between adult education providers, cultural organisations and disability-focused institutions, contributing to Erasmus+ priorities on inclusion, diversity and digital transformation through a simple, replicable and scalable model.
