Hosting EVS willing to set up their own artistic & cultural projects (music/painting/sculpture/sustainable development)
Welcoming of young people (aged 18 to 30) doing long-term European Voluntary Service (6 months to one year)
The Carrefour Association is a reception centre for young people, and includes a number of cultural spaces. As part of a project aiming to raise awareness and train young NEETs in Lorraine for international mobility (MOBILIS YOUTH PROJECT), Carrefour wishes to create a space for local and cultural discussion and meetings. This will enable young people to meet young European Volunteers through shared cultural activities.
This is why the young European Volunteers will have the option to set up their own cultural projects in the spaces that the Association makes available to them. These spaces are the following:
• a musical workshop with instruments and a sound system,
• a sculpture and art workshop,
• an art gallery,
• a sports facility,
• a cybercafé.
In this way and with the support of a tutor, the young people will be able to carry out projects such as: organizing an art exhibition, a sports tournament, an Internet radio programme, a musical event, etc.
The young volunteers must:
• provide free access to their workshops and explain what they are doing to young people from Lorraine who come to the Association,
• dedicate part of their time to debating, discussing and teaching.
They will be offered the chance to lead the debate in a friendly, discussion-type atmosphere in a resource and independent learning centre designed to look and feel like a cybercafé. This will be equipped with:
• free-access information boxes with internet access and independent learning software
• chairs, armchairs and tables to create a space where they can sit down and relax, like a cafeteria,
• a soft drink vending machine,
• table football and pool,
• a print media point.
