European expedition

About the organization
The social center is an NGO located in a disadvantaged suburban area (close from the city of Lyon). We are working with youth from 11 to 17 years old. One of our core missions is to support them developing their own projects. Our educational approach aim at facilitate individual’s development in all life dimension; physical, social and cultural, particularly by encouraging expressions and exchange between youth from different cultures.
Since December 2013, the social center initiated a long term project called «European expedition» involving a group of 7 girls and 3 boys, aged between 15 and 18 years old, and with diverse cultures.

The project aim at:
1- Though collectives creation, open a dialog with youngsters and share about their diverse cultural identities and their relationship with their neighborhood
2- Give them the opportunity to learn about and to experience European mobility
3- Develop their creativity and cultural competences
In 2014 and 2015 the following activities have been implemented:
1- Creation of a participatory newspaper and of a website called « Wesh the world », giving a voice to the youth to share about different topics: news, cultural, sports etc.
2- A one-week exchange in the city of Brussels. The group discovered European institutions, urban disadvantaged neighbors in Brussels and participated to a one day video workshop at CVB (Video Center Brussels)
3- A one-week exchange in the city of Granada. The group discovered the Andalusian culture, and visited places of Granada. They met Spanish young people in a youth space and shared on the European youth mobility.
In 2016, we would like to organize a European youth exchange around video making / new media. The aim of the project is to give the opportunity to youngster participating to the project to share experience, learn about each other’s culture, build relationship and think together about what means for them European citizenship. We would like this exchange to contribute in exchange knowledge about writing, shooting and editing short videos, to produce a short film by the end of the project
We are looking for a partner:
- Of one of the following country: Italy, Greece, or Croatia.
- Who could involve a group of youth of the same age.
- Who would like to get involve in the co-building of the program with us and the youth (we would like the youngster to participate actively into the preparation and organization of this exchange)
- Who could be interested to follow up with us and apply with an Erasmus + youth exchange project
