European City Sound

Since 2010 has been opened Matemù, the C.I.E.S' Youth Center, a meeting-place where boys and girls from different cultures and backgrounds (Italians, migrants and second generations) can express themselves and their creativity and are given a support. At Matemù all the differences are appreciated as “new possibilities”.
In this framework young from the center gave life to a music band, named Matemusik Band, and would be pleased to participate to a Youth Exchange, within Youth in Action Program Action 1.1, in order to share their experience with music with other bands from different Countries.
The exchange theme will be “The new European citizenship in an intercultural perspective” taking into account the high relevance of the new generation of citizens, with different and distant origins, living in Europe. The people involved will be young aged between 15 -19 years old-natives, migrants and/or second generation - with fewer opportunities.
The idea coming from young people is to create a song which encompasses elements of the youngs' different musical cultures. The lirycs will focus on intercultural issues, equality and fight against racism and prejudice .The song could be recorded and performed in a final public event in which the participants also tell citizens and local institutions' the experience they lived.
The program includes musical workshops, indoor and out-door activities, team-building activities, discussions, excursions, role plays, focus groups, brainstorming and de-briefing activities, intercultural evenings.
We woukd like to meet similar groups: young music bands born in a multicultural context.
