EU Tales is an Erasmus+ project idea using storytelling to help children discover EU history and values.
**EU Tales: Once Upon a Union** is an Erasmus+ project idea for the next deadline, aimed at bringing children closer to the European Union through storytelling, creativity and inclusive learning.
The project is based on a simple idea: European history and values can often seem abstract and distant to young children. EU Tales aims to transform the origins of the European Union, its key historical milestones, personalities and common values into engaging stories created with and for children.
The initial concept is to involve primary school pupils, approximately 8–11 years old, in creative activities such as storytelling, collaborative writing, illustration, drama and digital activities. Particular attention will be given to the inclusion of children with Special Educational Needs and different socio-cultural backgrounds.
Partners could work together to develop an innovative storytelling-based methodology for European civic education. Each country could explore a different event, personality or aspect of European history and contribute to the creation of a common **European storybook: “EU Tales – Once Upon a Union”**.
The project could also develop an inclusive educational toolkit with activities and resources that teachers can use to introduce European history, values and citizenship to young learners in an accessible and creative way.
At this stage, the project is still an idea to be further explored and developed. We are therefore looking for motivated partners interested in discussing the concept, contributing new ideas and **co-designing the project together** in preparation for the next Erasmus+ deadline.
We are particularly interested in schools and organisations working in primary education, inclusion, storytelling, civic education, European values and innovative teaching methodologies.
