This Youth Exchange empowers young people with alternative communication skills for crises and disasters when conventional systems fail.
Our planned KA152 Youth Exchange project aims to equip young people with practical communication skills for crisis and disaster situations in which conventional infrastructures such as mobile phones and the internet are unavailable.
The project addresses the importance of communication during emergencies by focusing on alternative communication methods that can function in disrupted environments. Participants aged 18–30 will develop practical skills in analog and digital radio communication, field signaling and sign systems (including basic sign language), emergency communication codes, offline communication tools, and on-site coordination techniques. The project also strengthens the ability to transfer information accurately, quickly, and reliably, while improving communication and teamwork under stress.
Activities are implemented through non-formal education methods, including applied workshops, simulations, group work, and practical exercises. These methods allow participants to actively practice crisis communication and coordination in realistic scenarios.
The project is coordinated by ÇARE-SAR Derneği (Türkiye), a Search and Rescue Association and an organisation experienced in disaster response, crisis management, and emergency communication.
