Environmental Education

Aegean Forest Foundation, one of the leading environmental non-governmental organization which treats nature and human in integrity, has been working for 20 years primarily focusing İzmir and Aegean Region with its motto “Next Generations Should Not Say ‘There Are No Forests’”. The Foundation provides regular region-wide trainings on creating awareness on ecosystems, protection of nature and creating environmental consciousness for approximately 25.000 people per year, especially for students and disadvantageous individuals, from the perspective of “Life-Long Learning”. The foundation increases its capacity through its regional, national and international projects on rural development, education, renewable energy and sustainable environment.
For the last couple years, we’ve been providing ecology based environmental education in nature settings for students between 5-18 in cooperation with Governorship of İzmir. However, since this is a quite new concept in Turkey, we don’t have sufficient resources to take as a guide and do not have enough good practices to observe.
Thus, we’d like to develop a project in the scope of Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnerships, to gain hands-on experience by observing good practices on site. We’re looking for at least two well-established and experienced environmental organisations to partner with that have the same understanding and appreciation of why we need environmental education and would be happy to transfer their knowledge and sharing best practices with us.
