Society in general as well as institutions and organizations working with young people are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of informal education and especially its role in working with young people. The greatest problem is a lack of educated and competent persons that can systematically and effectively deal with the issues young people are faced with. These so called “youthworkers” are responsible for the personal and professional development of young people. We believe their role is to educate, inform, and motivate young people to become active and responsible. To be able to successfully pass on their experience to others, these youthworkers must have a positive self-image, explore their own creativity, and acquire new knowledge, informal methods, and tools for working with young people.

This training program will be attended by 23 participants from 5 partner organizations that have a need for new educated youthworkers. Activities will take place on Sljeme peak near Zagreb and will be aimed at participants reaching their full potential through a combination of sports activities, creative and practical workshops, debates, and individual and team assignments, which will develop and improve methods and skills used in working with young people. The goal of the training program is to equip new “youthworkers” from various European countries with new social skills and practical knowledge that will contribute to the quality of their work and their ability to address the issues young people face today, which is a key point of the Erasmus+ program. Our project will attempt to make participants more aware of their own creative potential, which contributes to the quality of their work and helps them acquire new knowledge and social skills. The project is intended for persons working with young people and for organizations profiling new professional youthworkers that will help young people reach their full potential. Sharing experiences and transferring knowledge between experienced youthworkers and those with less experience is a crucial part of this training program.

The training program is comprised of theoretical and practical lessons, creative workshops, outdoor activities, debates, games, simulations, and team and individual assignments, all of which are aimed at furthering the personal, social, and professional development of the participants. Based on this carefully designed training program and additional informal methods and tools, participants will gain self-confidence, improve existing social skills, and acquire new transversal skills that they will be able to use when working with young people in the future.
