(Ele) Mental Health

Project purpose is to give useful tools to youth in order to: - manage their emotions in a right way. - be able to identify the main mental health problems

The prevalence of mental disorders in European adolescents aged 15-19 is estimated to be 20%. It is in this period of life that it can have the most important consequences for the entire adult age. Half of the people who have a mental illness have the first symptoms before the age of 14.

According to the World Health Organization and other studies, mental health problems in children and adolescents are increasing during the Covid 19 pandemic. Isolation, lack of social contact, interruption of educational activities, changes in habits , labor and economic problems of families, etc. are affecting the mental health of the population.

The most common problems in children and adolescents are anxiety, depression, insomnia, conduct disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. An association has been shown between different risk behaviors (sexual, eating, violence, bullying, tobacco, alcohol and drug use) and depression and other negative mental health states.
