EGALITARIAN RELATIONSHIPS BASIS FOR THE PREVENTION OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

A strong political impetus to gender equality policies has been made, but much remains to be done. There have been social changes that have made it possible to make the problem of gender-based violence visible, but it is necessary to go further, as women continue to suffer different types of violence and discrimination. The foundation for equality, cooperation, respect, and peace must be cultivated within society's mind-set, recognizing that violence stems from a patriarchal culture that perpetuates discrimination and stereotypes against women while upholding male power dynamics. Gender-based violence is a complex phenomenon that is not only reflected in physical violence, but also takes other forms that maintain unequal power relations/dynamics between men and women. Education is an essential tool for social transformation and it is essential to develop new tools that help professionals in the field of youth to identify and address early signs of violence while fostering equitable relationships.

Main aim: To prevent gender-based violence among young people and educate for equal and healthy relationships by enhancing the competences of professionals in the field of youth for the early detection of signs of violence and the development of healthy and equal relationships.

The main objectives of the project are:
• To improve the key competences of professionals in the field of youth in order to recognise and educate in the detection of early signs of gender-based violence and the creation of healthy and equal relationships;
• To exchange experiences, good practices and methodologies between organisations and professionals in the field of youth from five European countries, in order to prevent gender-based violence;
• To create practical and accessible tools for recognising and educating in the detection of early signs of gender-based violence and the creation of healthy and equal relationships;
• To develop an awareness campaign to prevent gender-based violence among young people;
• To create an international network of organisations, active in the field of youth, aware of the importance of prevent gender-based violence among young people.

Duration of the project: 24 months (expected starting date of the project: first quarter of 2025)

Partnerships:
Iniciativa Internacional Joven (Spain) is the applicant of the Project. We are planning to involve other four or five entities with solid expertise and working on the project topics.
