Youth Exchange in Latvia, September 2027, for 15-21 year olds: learning to recognise greenwashing and tell real eco products from fake ones.
Every day young people see advertising and products that say "eco", "green" or "natural". Many of these claims are vague or not true. This is called greenwashing. Young people rarely check if such claims are true and often don't know how to tell real eco-friendly products from ordinary ones.
In our youth exchange, young people from different countries will learn how to recognise greenwashing in advertising and in shops, check green claims and make more conscious choices.
Aim: to teach young people to check "green" advertising and to tell real eco products from ordinary ones.
Participants: about 24 young people aged 16-21 (6-8 per country) + 1 group leader per country.
Place and time: Latvia, 19-26 September 2027 (6 days of activities + travel days).
Expected results: new knowledge and skills, videos for schools and Youthpass certificates.
We are looking for: 1–2 partner organisations (youth organisations, NGOs or schools) from EU countries that want to work on environment, media literacy and critical thinking. Each partner would send a group of young people + 1 leader and help with dissemination in their country. We encourage travel by train or bus where possible.
We are especially looking for partners who also have their own youth exchange project in their country, so that our group could later take part in it. This way we can visit each other and build a long-term partnership.
