Eat less, eat better

It's by taking care of the others and its environment that we take care of us! That's why a project around young people and sustainable food takes its meaning.

Eating is part of our daily lives. Aside from the necessity, eating is also a source of pleasure, a moment of friendly sharing and an extraordinary way of discovering different cultures.
In 2016, food represents one third of our greenhouse gas emissions. This figure could be seen as a huge burden on our generation. We prefer to see it as a challenge and a tremendous opportunity to rethink how we feed ourselves.
On this basis, we’ve decided to create an exchange in 2017 !
We want to build, with the help of our partners, a project of multiple exchanges with the intention to carry out concrete actions in favor of sustainable food (FAO: " those diets with low environmental impacts which contribute to food and nutrition security and to healthy life for present and future generations. Sustainable diets are protective and respectful of biodiversity and ecosystems, culturally acceptable, accessible, economically fair and affordable; nutritionally adequate, safe and healthy; while optimizing natural and human resources. ").
Here are some ideas of departure proposed by the Belgian team:
• COOK Workshop : this group will manage the full board of the group, through a local and thoughtful feed proposed by the workshop BUY
• BUY Workshop: This group will take care of food purchases in the farm and cooperatives of the local area
• THINK Workshop: Reflection on current practices in Belgium and other countris (cooperatives, etc.), and on food waste.
• BUILD Workshop: Construction of a participatory henhouse, recovery of rainwater, etc.
• COLLECT Workshop: free harvesting on private fruit trees and creation of juices and recipes.
• KEEP Workshop: creation of preserves made from fresh vegetables.
Through this project, our exchange is also cultural, so we want to set up several exchange activities centered on our cultures, but also discoveries of Belgian culture.
