DRAMA IN PROBATION ‘’DİP’’

We are contacting you on behalf of probation services in Sivas, Turkey.
Probation services work with criminals and drug users for treatment and rehabilitation. As probation services professionals, we carry out treatment and rehabilitation studies for the addictions of criminals and drug users. As probation services professionals, we work to rehabilitate drug users and prevent re-offending of individuals involved in various crimes. A group of experts is working together for this mission: sociologists, psychologists, social workers and teachers. These experts conduct individual interviews and group work with criminals and drug users.
It has been observed that the training provided in these studies remains theoretical, and we think that it is insufficient to provide behavior change. This deficiency can be eliminated by using the drama method in our trainings. It will be productive if the drama method is more involved in the treatment and rehabilitation process.
According to statistical data, it is seen that drug use has increased rapidly in Turkey in recent years. It is thought that an innovative approach is needed to the methods used in the face of this increase and this approach is the drama method. In the rehabilitation processes of drug users, it is possible to internalize the education given by the drama method and in the face of an event; It will be easier for them to transfer what they have learned to practical life by remembering the emotions they feel, the thoughts that go through their minds and the scenes they play.
