Documentary "Je pars pour la france !" AK220 - HED

In a context of growing international student mobility, higher education institutions and reception structures are facing major challenges: administrative complexity, difficulties related to student set-up, lack of clarity in mobility pathways, and integration issues for international students.

“Je pars pour la France” is an educational documentary that aims to document, analyse and showcase the real-life journeys of international students coming to study in France. Through filmed testimonies and field observations, the documentary follows students at three key stages: pre-departure preparation, arrival in France, and integration six months later.

The project will run for 24 months and will start in October 2026.

Targeted partner structures

The project is open to higher education institutions, as well as welcome centres, international offices or dedicated support structures involved in assisting international students preparing for a mobility period to France.

Objective of the cooperation

The project is based on cooperation between student reception stakeholders in order to:

document the concrete realities of international student mobility to France,

highlight existing support and guidance schemes,

identify drivers and barriers related to preparation, reception and integration,

inform and improve the practices of institutions and welcome structures from a European perspective.

Role of partner institutions and structures :

Each partner institution or structure will be expected to:

Present the schemes, actions and tools in place to support international students preparing for a mobility period to France, prior to departure.

Illustrate these schemes through concrete practices (support procedures, resources mobilised, coordination with relevant services).

Select the international students who will be followed as part of the documentary, ensuring a diversity of profiles and mobility pathways.

Facilitate contact with the selected students and access to the different stages of their mobility journey.

Take part in exchange and capitalisation activities in order to share lessons learned from the documentary and contribute to the improvement of student support practices.

European added value

The documentary will:

give visibility to the real experiences of students in mobility,

highlight reception and support practices implemented by institutions,

foster the exchange of experiences and good practices,

contribute to improving the quality of reception, inclusion and the success of learning mobilities.
