A project based on cultural competences with special emphasis on universal culture and common practices and beliefs, that all societies have developed.
Hrastnik is a typical industrial town with rich cultural heritage. One of the main activities with the longest tradition is Rdeči Revirji festival (Red Districts festival), which is created jointly with youngsters and cultural organisations, under the supervision of experienced organisers and artists, with more than 17 years of experiences.
The festival celebrates 200 years of mining and heavy industry tradition with added elements of contemporary art. Each year it creates a dialogue among people using its different forms (body language, musical instruments, visual arts) as a channel for intercultural communication. Art is bringing people closer and is opening doors for communication, helping everyone involved to open to the world and it encourages self – discovery.
Moreover, the festival is driven by cooperation, solidarity and joint work, which are not just the values of the miners and workers, but also Erasmus + programme aimed to connect people around Europe.
During those 17 editions, the festival and their creators break the stereotypes and move borders. They succeed to create a creative environment of domestic and foreign artists and bring the art closer to the locals. Each year they attract the best of Slovene and foreign contemporary art production and make locals to think out of the box.
For the last couple of years, they also have a strong ties with youth and youth workers, which have gained competences in organizing a cultural event. Further more, they also know how to encourage young people from Hrastnik to become more pro-active in gaining new skills and competence also on cultural field.
The Youth Workers' Mobility will bring together youth workers from 6 different countries before and during the festival in Hrastnik.
It'll use the creative process to explore how culture can bring necessary competences to the youth with fewer opportunities (social and geographical obstacles). The participants will also work jointly with festival creators and get a deeper look into organising a festival in more than less rural environment, which is still fighting one of the highest unemployment rate in Slovenia.
Additionally, we'll give a special emphasis to the universal culture and search for common practices and beliefs that all societies have developed.
We believe, that exploration and furthermore, implementation of those practices will equip young people with the necessary skills to develop values, which are based on tolerance and intercultural dialogue.
We'll focus on:
