Disconnect to Reconnect with Nature

This Erasmus+ Youth Exchange aims to reconnect young people with nature and empower them to become active promoters of environmental sustainability in their communities.

Across Europe, many young people spend less time in natural environments, experience increasing digital dependency and feel disconnected from environmental challenges affecting their local communities. This project responds to these challenges by creating an international learning experience that combines nature-based education, intercultural dialogue and youth-led environmental action.

The project will bring together 20 young people aged 16–25 and 5 group leaders from Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia and North Macedonia for a 7-day Youth Exchange. Through non-formal education methods, outdoor learning, experiential activities, reflection sessions and peer learning, participants will strengthen their environmental awareness, develop GreenComp sustainability competences and explore practical ways to promote sustainable lifestyles

The general objective of the project is to empower young people from Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Croatia and Serbia to become active environmental citizens by strengthening their environmental competences, connection with nature and capacity to initiate community-based environmental action through non-formal and intercultural learning.
The specific objectives are Specific Objectives
1. To increase the environmental literacy of at least 20 young people aged 16–25 by a minimum of 30% between the pre-project and post-project assessments by the end of the Youth Exchange.
2. To improve the level of at least four GreenComp sustainability competences (systems thinking, critical thinking, futures literacy and collective action) among at least 80% of participants, as measured through self-assessment and facilitator observation tools during the project.
3. To enable at least 80% of participants to identify, analyse and propose solutions for environmental challenges affecting their local communities by the end of the mobility activity.
4. To support participants in developing at least 10 youth-led Green Action Plans addressing local environmental issues, with at least 70% of these plans being initiated within six months after the project.
5. To increase the participation of young people in environmental and civic initiatives, with at least 75% of participants reporting active involvement in at least one environmental action, volunteering activity or awareness initiative within six months after the exchange.
6. To strengthen intercultural understanding, European awareness and cooperation among participants, with at least 90% of participants reporting improved ability to collaborate with peers from different cultural backgrounds and increased understanding of shared environmental challenges in Europe by the end of the project.
