Digital Skills for Integration: Empowering Eritrean Youth and Entrepreneurs

Empowering Eritrean & Ethiopian youth through digital literacy & entrepreneurship—mentoring talent building community, sparking innovation for brighter future.

Arlienly is a vibrant community founded in 2023 by refugees on a mission to empower the next generation of Eritrean immigrants—children, youth, and budding entrepreneurs—across Europe and the UK. We boost digital literacy and build a safe online space where young people learn to spot social media misinformation and disinformation, protecting their mental health while navigating the digital world.

We also support local businesses by offering hands-on digital IT help, from designing dynamic websites and executing smart digital marketing strategies to harnessing cloud technology. In addition, our fun hackathons for children use Scratch programming to teach coding and interactive digital literacy while celebrating Eritrean culture through projects that reflect traditional stories, music, and art.

With strong mentorship and community building, Arlienly paves the way for a future where digitization and entrepreneurship empower Eritrean immigrants to innovate and lead.

Many Eritrean immigrants arrive with limited proficiency in the host country's language, making it difficult to access essential services, pursue education, or secure employment. The digital divide further exacerbates these issues, as a lack of computer skills restricts their ability to engage with online resources and services. To address these challenges, Arlienly offers a welcoming space where Eritrean immigrants can learn and grow together. Our programs are conducted in Tigrinya, ensuring that language is not a barrier to learning. We provide: Digital Literacy Training: Participants acquire essential computer skills, enabling them to navigate the digital world confidently. Entrepreneurship Workshops: We nurture entrepreneurial spirit by teaching the fundamentals of starting and managing a business, tailored to the unique experiences of Eritrean immigrants. Community Building Activities: Through group sessions and cultural events, we foster a sense of belonging and mutual support, helping to alleviate feelings of isolation.
