Digital Island Youth Work

Digital Island Youth Work is a proposed Erasmus+ training course for youth workers, planned to take place in the Canary Islands, Spain, in 2027, coordinated by Promotora de Iniciativas.

The project will explore how digitalisation can help youth work become more accessible, inclusive and connected, particularly for young people living in peripheral and island territories. Geographical distance can create barriers to participation, international mobility, learning and access to European opportunities, and digital tools can play an important role in overcoming these barriers.

The training course will focus on artificial intelligence, digital and media literacy, misinformation and disinformation, online safety, digital identity and footprint, social media, content creation, digital participation and digital tools for non-formal education.

A key focus will be on the responsible and meaningful use of AI and digital technologies in youth work. Participants will explore how digital tools can support youth workers in reaching young people, creating engaging learning activities, encouraging participation and connecting young people with European opportunities, while also addressing risks such as misinformation, online safety and digital exclusion.

The course will be based on non-formal education, experiential learning, peer exchange, practical workshops, simulations, digital challenges and sharing of good practices. Participants will have the opportunity to present approaches from their countries, test new methodologies and develop ideas that can be implemented in their organisations after the training.

We are looking for European organisations working with young people and/or youth workers, especially those with experience or interest in digital youth work, AI, media literacy, inclusion, youth participation, non-formal education and digital transformation.

We are particularly interested in partners who can contribute practical experience, methodologies and examples from their local context and who are interested in actively participating in the development and implementation of the project.
