Artistic and digital project empowering youth (18–30) to create stories with AI and media, share challenges online and present in youth-led festivals.
DigiMates Volume 2 is an artistic and digital Erasmus+ KA210 project that empowers young people aged 18–30 to become active creators in the digital era. Building on the success of DigiMates – Virtual Art Spaces, this continuation brings new focus on youth empowerment, digital competences, storytelling and the creative use of AI.
The project treats digital tools not simply as technical instruments but as languages of artistic expression. Young people with fewer opportunities will be supported to explore photography, video, writing, sound and interactive media as ways to tell their stories and connect their personal experiences to wider social realities. By engaging with digital creativity, they will gain confidence, strengthen resilience and develop a sense of belonging both locally and within the European community.
A central innovation of the project is the DigiMates artistic platform. Here, participants will upload and respond to creative “challenges” designed to spark collaboration across borders. This interactive online space will not only showcase artistic works but also allow young people to co-create, exchange ideas and explore how emerging technologies like AI can support creativity while raising critical questions about ethics and inclusion.
Each partner organisation will host a youth-led digital festival to present the works created during the project. These festivals will bring youth voices into the heart of public cultural life, engaging local communities in dialogue and celebrating diversity. By combining online and offline formats, the festivals ensure accessibility, visibility and sustainability of outcomes.
The project also strengthens the capacity of participating organisations. By pooling expertise in participatory arts, youth empowerment and digital education, the partnership will develop innovative methodologies that can be transferred and adapted beyond the project’s lifetime.
Through this combination of digital transformation and artistic practice, DigiMates Volume 2 directly addresses Erasmus+ horizontal priorities of inclusion, diversity, digital innovation and democratic participation. It creates a space where young people can gain competences, express themselves and take ownership of their narratives, while organisations and communities benefit from new forms of cultural engagement.
