The Partner-Finding Tool
This 2nd act of an OFAJ project will bring 24 young French, Belgian and German people to continue their reflections on voting during a mobility in Brussels.
Young people's commitment to a democratic and sustainable future is crucial to address their loss of confidence in democracy. "Democracy in your hands! Act 2" builds on an "Act 1" project conducted in December 2021 in Strasbourg. It is the enthusiasm of young people and the observation that this project had helped to develop their civic involvement that pushed us to continue towards an Act 2, which will ensure to attenuate the disconnection between elected representatives and young people, visible in our everyday life.
This project is built in 3 stages: a preparatory meeting (1), a discovery of the European institutions in Brussels and how they work (2), and a post-mobility feedback from young people (3).
-- (1) Beforehand, a preparation time will be planned for the young people in order to organise their mobility in Brussels:
prepare the intercultural exchange, learn basic words in French and German to facilitate communication during the mobility.
organise a meeting in a local or departmental political institution (town hall or departmental council/provincial or Länder chief executives) of each respective group in order to make the elected representatives more accessible to the young people and to prepare them for the third stage of the project.
-- (2) Once in Brussels, the young people will visit the various European institutions in order to better understand how they work and will meet with elected representatives in order to strengthen the proximity between them and their political representatives. The educational activities organised will lead the young people to share their opinions in a trinational debate and to imagine new methods of political participation.
-- (3) A new meeting between young people and elected representatives of departmental and local authorities will take place in each country. The young people will submit suggestions to them in order to create human bridges to renew a peaceful and constructive dialogue.
