Protection of the environment, global justice as well as a future-oriented economy are principles of sustainability that move many young people. At the same time, digitalization has been developing rapidly and will have further impact on societies and every-day life.

To address and handle these issues, a kind of education is needed that enables young people to engage themselves in the world and get involved in a creative and responsible way. The concept of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) offers a suitable framework for this. At this, digital media can create new opportunities to engage effectively in both processes, sustainability and digitalization. Its implementation in the field of ESD can make a creative encounter with a complex subject possible and thus create learning opportunities.

Our project idea resumes to this. Together with youth workers and young people, we aim to develop concepts and innovative approaches for youth work that connect ESD and digital education, notably by focusing on 360° media because of its immersive effect. For the project, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (17 SDGs) set by the UN provide the content framework, in particular the topic areas of sustainability, environment and climate protection.
Next to knowledge development on these topics, we want to strengthen the acquisition and development of digital skills for both youth workers and young people. Youth workers and leaders gain specialised knowledge about ESD and sustainability as well as digital skills. They are enabled to make young people familiar with central issues of sustainability and to support them in their commitment to the environment with the help of application-oriented learning.

Currently we are looking for youth organisations and/or other organisations and institutions working with and/or for young people

i) that already have experience in the topic fields of sustainability, climate and en-vironment protection and can thus deliver expertise and specialised knowledge in these fields

ii) that work together with young people and already work with digital tools but not necessarily within the topic fields of sustainability etc.

iii) that have experience in media education for youth workers and leaders

iv) that have expertise in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) but no or lit-tle knowledge with digital skills

v) that work together with young people, have no experience in neither of the topic fields nor digital education and would like to engage themselves and be involved in these subjects
