Cultivating Change: Women, Medicinal Plants and Green Innovation

Women farmers and cooperatives apply good agricultural practices to medicinal plants and produce value-added natural products through training and distillation

Cultivating Change: Women, Medicinal Plants and Green Innovation

This project aims to promote organic farming practices through the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants, with a particular focus on Helichrysum (Immortelle), a climate-resilient and high value-added crop aligned with the European Green Deal.

The project will be implemented in close cooperation with women farmers and women-led cooperatives, strengthening their role in sustainable agricultural production and rural entrepreneurship. Participants will gain practical skills in organic cultivation methods, harvesting techniques and basic distillation processes, enabling them to move beyond raw material production.

A key objective of the project is to transform medicinal and aromatic plants into value-added natural products, such as essential oils, hydrosols and simple natural cosmetic products. By linking agriculture with processing and innovation, the project seeks to create new income opportunities and diversify rural livelihoods.

Through capacity building, pilot applications and international knowledge exchange, the project aims to develop new employment pathways for women, support green innovation in rural areas and contribute to sustainable local value chains based on organic and environmentally friendly production models.
