Countering Fake News in Post Communist Countries

Countering disinformation and other forms of interference in the democratic debate and promoting media literacy in Eastern and Central European countries

With this project, we aim to learn from the past that affected Central and Eastern European countries and use this knowledge to examine today´s strategies for spreading false information and propaganda. During the workshops, students will have a chance to compare propagandistic materials from the Communist period, with much more advanced propaganda and false information from today and learn how to spot them, verify if the information is true and also learn, what are the consequences of believing in false news and how dangerous these might be, based on the historical experience from the region (Communism and Nacism)

The project aims to strengthen the knowledge of the importance of democratic institutions, free press and human rights in the context of European society.

Diverse activities will be implemented:
-online trainings for teachers
-practical workshops in schools for students
-online international webinars

Mutual partnerships and long-term cooperation preferred
