COSE – Transversal Competences for Social Entrepreneurship in Euromed

THE BACKGROUND
The project is capitalizing on the final outputs of the project “Sustain your life through social entrepreneurship” funded with the support of the Erasmus+ programme KA2 Strategic partnership in the field of youth, specifically the open learning portal on social entrepreneurship, including non-formal learning modules on social entrepreneurship developed and tested during the project.

THE OVERALL OBJECTIVE
To engage youth workers and young people in social entrepreneurship and community development in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

THE SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE
To enhance the capacity of youth workers to step into social entrepreneurship and tackle social problems identified within their communities.

In line with UNESCO Operational Strategy on Youth (2014-2021), the barriers perceived by young people in both EU & Euromed countries are centered on inadequate business know-how, difficulties faced in accessing funding opportunities and the lack of visibility of social entrepreneurship and youth initiatives at country level are the issues young social entrepreneurs are often confronted with. Administrative and regulatory burdens, a lack of business experience and family and friends not being supportive have been suggested as other critical barriers for youth social entrepreneurship.
Most of the young social entrepreneurs through the TC activities will be positively influenced and will improve their employability skills.

The project is in complementarity with the objectives of the Erasmus+ Programme in the field of
youth:
- to improve the level of key competences & skills of youth workers and leaders;
- to foster quality improvements in youth work through enhanced cooperation between organisations
in the youthfield;
- to enhance the international dimension of youth activities & enhance the capacity of youth workers
and organisations to face global challenges.
