“Connecting People and Developing Synergies in the Giesen Youth Centre” ESC - Portugal-Germany Call for Partnerships

Welcome to the Jugendpflege Giesen (Germany)!

Jugendpflege Giesen is an institution of the municipality of Giesen. Together we create a youth space where all young people between the ages of 9 and 27 are welcome. We work according to the principle of open child and youth work and offer a varied summer programme during the school holidays. On a day-to-day basis, we are a central contact point for children and young people from the municipality of Giesen and the surrounding villages.

In our youth care programme, volunteers play an important role in supporting and enriching our daily activities by bringing their perspectives, creativity and energy to the programmes. In general, they will participate in daily activities with children and youth. Volunteers will help organize and manage the activities offered and actively participate together with the young people. We are happy if they give us more support in organizing and accompanying different offers and groups and are interested in the people. Volunteers help us with the logistical and operational aspects of our programmes, such as preparing materials and ensuring that activities run smoothly.

We are looking for someone who is confident and comfortable to get in touch with people of the community, who is open, curious and enthusiastic for connecting with children and young people and learning about their needs and who is willing to work with diverse groups, even if their German skills are still developing—communication goes beyond words, and we value all forms of connection. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone eager to be an integral part of our team throughout their service. We encourage the volunteers to bring their unique interests and talents to the role, enriching our work with their personal touch.

We have just received the Quality Label, so this is our first experience with European volunteers and we´re excited to start our ESC journey!
We´d like to reach out Portuguese youth centres and create a mutual learning process and share the methodologies of child and youth work. Also, it would be great if you could help us find motivated and eager young people to join our team.
