Civil Society Solidarity Movement (Ci.So.Mo)

Europe for Citizens - Democratic engagement and civic participation

This project will investigate the dynamics, ways, cases and causes that mobilized citizens in solidarity with refugees in response to the European refugee crisis since 2015 in an attempt to uncover the individual drivers and surrounding conditions that lead to engaging in activism, spanning from donations of money, daily and sanitary essentials, clothes, contribution of leisure time up to civil disobedience.

The drives between that kind of cooperation installed between administrations, NGOs and citizens can lead to new alliances that can also prove adequate and interesting in other contexts. It's actually a mindset one instills that's not only applicable to refugees but it can enhance the persons’ involvement in democratic procedures that go beyond the govermerments’ firm settings making the citizen a leader of change.
