CINECOOP : Youth for European Co-Production

Youth from 5 countries co-create short films, learning cinematic skills and intercultural cooperation to promote diversity, inclusion, and European unity.

CINECOOP: Youth for European Co-Production is a dynamic youth exchange project that connects 60 young filmmakers from France, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, and Ukraine. United by their passion for cinema and storytelling, participants collaborate across borders to learn the art and craft of filmmaking, focusing on co-production in a European context.

The project addresses the challenge of limited access to film production opportunities for youth, especially those with fewer chances due to social or economic barriers. Through this initiative, young people develop artistic, technical, and intercultural skills by jointly creating socially meaningful short films that celebrate diversity and intercultural dialogue.

Structured in three phases, the project begins locally with training in cinematographic language and collaborative concept development around themes of identity, diversity, and intercultural communication. Participants engage in online exchanges to prepare for the international mobility phase.

During the 10-day international workshop, mixed teams co-create, shoot, and edit their films with support from professional mentors. This immersive experience includes cultural activities and fosters a trusting, collaborative environment.

Finally, the completed films are showcased in each partner country and shared online, with youth leading promotional activities. Each participant receives a Youthpass validating their newly acquired creative, technical, and intercultural competencies.

Grounded in non-formal education, CINECOOP prioritizes active participation, peer learning, and talent development. The project aims to empower young people as storytellers of their own European narratives, promoting inclusion, intercultural understanding, and a culture of collective creativity.

Expected impacts include:

Enhanced filmmaking and soft skills such as teamwork, intercultural communication, and project management.

Broadened cultural horizons and professional experiences.

Strengthened cross-cultural networks and long-term friendships.

Increased visibility and recognition for participating organizations.

Contribution to a positive, inclusive European cultural narrative.

Sustainability measures include online dissemination of films, educational use of content, future cooperation projects, and the development of a pedagogical toolkit inspired by CINECOOP’s approach.
