CAMP SITES IN AFRICA
 
A building site, it's two, three weeks, a month or even more, of living in which foreign and national volunteers involved in the implementation of a local development project in favor of a given community.
 
Work on a project vary according to local needs. The active participation of all volunteers in perfect harmony group is the main factor camp site's success. It is a meeting place for cultural exchange and experience, but also a place of know-how and know-living together.
 
The work is voluntary but require material and financial participation of all the volunteers who will implement them.
 
These work camps are offered to all volunteers aged at least 18 years of age (with parental consent), without any racial distinctions, religious or political beliefs. The number of participants at a construction site is between 10 and 30 people.
 
 
NATURE ACTIVITIES BY TYPES OF PROJECTS:
 
THE SITE ART / CULTURE
 
Is to train volunteers to Batik technique on fabric and T-shirt, percussion on "Djembe" African dances, to make necklaces, bracelets and earrings beads, make basketry,. ..
 
AWARENESS HIV / AIDS AND HYGIENE
 
Will take the form of discussions and informative debates on issues of HIV / AIDS and HYGIENE. The goal is to raise awareness of the behavior to eradicate these scourges of AIDS, cholera, ... in the population, including village ..
 
Volunteers will form group and go to meet people to listen, inform and educate about sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy and globally hygiene .. Lots of condoms will be distributed and demonstrations will be made on their uses.
 
Donations condoms from the volunteers will be more successful this project.
 
ACADEMIC SUPPORT (Holiday Course)
 
Volunteers will provide academic tutoring in the subjects of their choice (English, French, Physics and Mathematics) for high school students, and the general culture, calculations and French to elementary school children.
 
It is popular to bring school supplies, educational games and other for distribution to students at the end of tutoring.
 
RENOVATION OF SCHOOL OR CLINIC
 
For the renovation, the volunteers will work under the guidance of a professional artist and Painter. Together they will renovate the walls of windows classrooms or clinic. The volunteers also conduct small masonry work and if possible be planting around fruit trees or teak.
 
REFORESTATION AND AWARENESS DEFORESTATION
 
The volunteers will participate in the protection of rural areas with a trained facilitator. The aim will be clearing brush and planting teak (research posts in the bush, preparing holes for planting, watering seedlings monitoring, ...).
 
Participants will also try to become familiar with the flora and fauna of the environment of the host village. The activity will also be to raise awareness of the benefits of flora.
 
THE FAMILY INTEGRATION
 
Volunteers will stay in homes where they will participate in field work, with household activities, learning the local cuisine, draw water, babysit, .... This assistance will be from 8 am to 17 hours next day that will choose the host of the site camp. The integration will enable volunteers to acculturate to the rural life of Togo.
 
ANIMATION WITH CHILDREN
 
Some afternoon at 17.30 15H, volunteers organize with students of animation, games, recreational activities. For this job it is advisable to bring small gifts (fun games, candy, coloring, ...).
 
CONSTRUCTION SITE (school building, clinic, latrines, library)
      
 
This type of construction is to participate in the construction in villages; educational and health facilities socio namely: youth centers, clinics, public toilets, library and school buildings in collaboration with local communities to address the critical shortage of educational and social and health infrastructure in suburban areas.
 
WORK
 
The work will include collecting sand, gravel, fetch water, help masons in the manufacture of bricks, making foundations, climbing walls etc. Volunteers will work 5 hours per day in the morning. The afternoon will be free and will be devoted to cultural exchange activities with the host community.
 
EXCURSIONS
 
Two excursions are organized during construction camp. Both are paid by the volunteer. During these trips, the volunteers have the chance to visit the best places cradles of West African peoples cultures, landscapes, fauna and flora multiple and varied, ...
 
Most tours include off peak Agou (the highest peak of Togo, amounted to more than 980 meters), visit waterfalls, crossing Lake Togoville, the discovery of the paradise beach Aného, City Kpalime, the village of KOUMA KONDA the vial castle etc ..
 
EVENINGS
 
The evenings are reserved according to the program of meetings, games, songs, to go for a drink at the bar, the atmosphere of the group or at rest (for those who wish).
 
An African and a European evening evening are organized during construction camp. It is the responsibility of the Togolese expatriate volunteers and organize their respective event (food shopping, meal preparation, organization of the evening as a whole).
