We are committed to raise and spread awareness of the phenomenon of bullying in school and act/react on it to create a safe environment for the youngsters.
Bullying is a phenomenon that happens in every community, in one more than others, that’s why we the A4ACTION NGO want to focus and take action on bullying between children/ youngsters in high schools. This idea came after we A4ACTION recognized some social inappropriate behaviour (bullying (group pressure)) among youngsters in school.
We did research on bullying in Romania. A report of the World Health Organisation declares that Romania is ranking third (=34%) (behind Russia (37%) and Latvia 35%) among 42 surveyed countries (European and neighbour countries) on bullying in schools. Save the Children NGO adds the fact that more than half of the students of high schools were subject to bullying in 2016. These are numbers of youngsters who admit being a victim of bullying, imagine what the percentage would be if we count the ones who didn’t dare to report being bullied.
The issue of the 34% of victims of bullying has to do with Schools, parents and children missing/ignoring the full knowledge about the bullying problem. Simply because they don’t know how to deal with it or don’t understand the motives/ reason behind it, so it’s difficult to reach to bullies. There is a need for people who are specialised in the field of bullying expertise who can inform and help the peers, the bully and the victims.
This project is going to work together with 6 partners who are ranked high and lower in the percentage of reports of victims of bullying in schools. We want to work with the partners from the following countries; s so we have a balance of countries who are in critical condition and countries who have already taken some effective measurements/ steps to fight bullying.
*Latvia 2de in ranking with 35%
* Romania 3de in ranking with 34%
*Malta ranking 4th with 32%
*Germany ranking 11th with 23%
