Building Youtworkers Capacity for EDI in Youth Work

Alumnii MPES Association was created as a practical framework for graduates of a master's programme in Equal Opportunities to translate their academic training into real-world action. The association provides a mechanism to apply equality and inclusion expertise in practice and to use legal and policy instruments as levers for change at organisational and community level.

Alumnii MPES brings together graduates and professionals with expertise in equality, inclusion and public policies, actively involved in youth work, non-formal education, research and training. Although we are a newly established organisation, our team has diverse and solid experience in educational and social projects, facilitation, capacity building and organisational development.

Our focus is on translating the principles of equality of opportunity and access, inclusion, diversity and equity (EDI) into concrete, applicable practices. We develop tools and methodologies that support organisations to review internal processes, identify participation barriers, and implement realistic improvements in how they design and deliver youth activities, communicate, select participants and ensure safe, accessible learning environments.

We are looking for youth organisations from EU Member States and/or Erasmus+ Programme Countries to join a Youth Worker Mobility project (KA1), built around the priority “equality of opportunity and access, inclusion, diversity and equity (EDI)”, planned for a 12-month duration. Each partner organisation will participate with 3 youth workers: 2 practitioners working directly with young people and 1 staff member with coordination and/or decision-making responsibilities.

Context and relevance
In today’s context, youth organisations are increasingly assessed on their capacity to provide real access, safety and quality experiences for young people from diverse backgrounds, not only on the number of activities delivered. Erasmus+ treats inclusion and diversity as a horizontal priority across all sectors and encourages projects that design accessible, inclusive activities, including by involving participants with fewer opportunities in decision-making processes.

Project aim: The project aims to strengthen youth organisations’ capacity to embed EDI systematically, through a mobility programme that combines training with the development and immediate use of a shared internal diagnosis tool.

Proposed structure:

10 days youth worker mobility - practice-oriented training on EDI

Co-creation of a shared EDI internal diagnosis tool based on criteria and evidence.

Participating organisations conduct an internal diagnosis and translate findings into a practical improvement plan, including actions, responsibilities, timelines and indicators.

We expect the mobility to take place in the second half of February 2027.

Follow-up: implementation of the plans and monitoring of progress at organisational level.

Partner profile
We are looking for organisations that:
– run youth work activities and have active youth workers;
– are interested in organisational development, not only attending a training course;
– are willing to co-create the tool and apply it internally;
– can implement a post-mobility improvement plan and document progress;
– have experience or a clear interest in working with diverse groups, including young people with fewer opportunities.
