«Building Rainbows: ART as a Mediator of PEACE»

The project ‘Building Rainbows’ is an experiential intersection of the world of arts and the concept of peace education.

The project ‘Building Rainbows’ is an experiential intersection of the world of arts and the concept of peace education, which will be used in an attempt to build bridges of communication as well as to de-construct the existence of mental and geographical borders. The project will take place in the torn-apart island of Cyprus, which has long suffered the consequences of conflict and division, and the wounds are still alive in geographical, anthropological and sociological levels.

The main aim of the project is to use artistic practices, to enhance our understanding of the above concepts, and to use non-formal methods as a way of developing on a personal level as well as to encourage stronger social connections and initiate creative dialogue. Throughout the project, a plethora of art media will be used to address the concepts of peace education.
