Build Bright Future for Marginalized Youths in Kenya

Provide educational programs and mentorship for disadvantaged children and teens in the slums and rural areas in Kenya Africa.

Challenge
Kondele, Manyatta and Nyalenda slums is a settlement of roughly 500,000 people where a vast majority of the population live under the poverty index, in houses made up of mud and corrugated iron sheets. As in many impoverished areas, children and teens from these slum are at incredible risk of unplanned pregnancies, involvement in drugs and alcohol abuse, crime and prostitution. Children and teens make up about 50% of the population according to last census report.

Solution
Transform YOU is a new project that will start next year and it seeks to offer educational programs and for disadvantaged youths. We will provide hands-on training and technical workshops in subjects such as photography, performing arts, and football. With our stay-in-school programs, young boys and girls are discovering new opportunities in arts and sports. These programs are teaching - how to share as well as non-violent conflict resolution methods

Long-Term Impact
This project will equip our youth with skills that will improve livelihood by allowing them to counter poverty and earn a living. This will prepare them for the job market and build their future careers. Our aim is to create a peaceful atmosphere in the Kisumu County slums by showing the youth an alternative to the common path of violence. Through our programs of the arts and sport we will perpetuate a cycle of young emerging role models for years to come.
