BREAK IT! - for the better social media environment for refugees

Main goal of the youth exchange is to develop tools for more friendly environment for refugees

The most common thing people use daily is stereotypes. They are based on a person's looks, feelings, and attitude. Mostly they are playful and fun, but it's not the case with stereotypes about refugees. Migration is currently one of the most popular topics in political and social life in Europe. Regardless of culture, or religion,
the migration motive refugees have been a news headline for some time. Not always these headlines are welcoming towards refugees. Most of the time refugees are associated with problems on the labor market, availability of social benefits, difficulties linked with immigrant assimilation or integration, risks to national identity, development of organized crime, or terrorism. Social media isn't making these better, because people like to express their opinion which isn't so friendly towards refugees.
The aims of this project:
- To increase tolerance towards refugees on social media;
- To raise awareness and give possible solutions for social media outlook on refugees.
- To develop a more friendly environment for refugees, so that they can express themselves without discrimination.

Objectives for this project are:
- Provide youngster with an understanding of the political processes involved if migration;
- Develop tools for youngsters to "break" stereotypes.
- Provide tool. methods and skills to use in their countries for future non-formal education.

The project will give youngsters a chance to connect with people from different countries, with different perspectives on refugees.
