Being a Woman in Every Condition!

Life of migrants and refugees is not easy. In addition, being an immigrant and refugee woman has more serious meanings in this context. The problems of the refugees start with their escape from their countries and, as it is thought, they will not end up when they find a country to seek refuge, but rather a rapid increase. Being a refugee affects the most dependent part of the population heavily and negatively. Women and children are disadvantaged in this group. Women and child refugees constitute the majority of this refugee mobility.

The fact that women refugees face more severe conditions than other refugees is primarily related to her sex. Women refugees face many sexual, social and psychological problems due to their gender. The main problems are sexual discrimination, sexual harassment, prejudice-related persecution, harmful practices of traditions, sexual violence and domestic violence.

Research on refugee and immigrant women; it shows that women generally emigrate to get rid of the overwhelming and patriarchal practices of the traditional structure originating from the war in the country they live in, or that they resort to other countries with the demand of asylum seekers. These women are exposed to various attacks, violence and dangers during the migration / asylum process. Women who face threats and abuse in the transition period and in the camps they are placed in are subjected to prostitution and forced sexual intercourse.

The aim of the project is to create solutions to the problems in the social sense and to raise awareness for these problems, which are the most affected by the migration process. The process of adaptation of young women to a new region may lead to various difficulties. The most important challenges they face are; lack of communication, financial problems, psychosocial problems and health care problems. In this project, it is aimed to provide information and to raise awareness about the problems and rights of refugee/migrant young women.
