PROJECT DRAFT:
Project "Behind the Iron Curtain in 1956" depicts the events of political and social mobilization in Central Europe. The project raises awarness of the changes in Central Europe with two innovative tools. The first is the social board game. The game is based on a cooperative model, which makes the players do not play against each other, but work together to overcome the obstacles posed to them by the rules of the game design and gameplay mechanics. This is reminiscent of the struggle against the totalitarian system. The participants have to demonstrate major social competences, to reconcile their own, often different interests to unite and stand together against totalitarian communist regime in defense of freedom, free of speech and respect for human rights. The main reasons for the specific construction of the game comes from the young Europeans (mostly Polish, Hungarian, Czech and Slovakia). They are a model example of constructive peer interaction at the international level. The game will be distributed in physical form as a result of the project in all EU countries (possibility to order a free copy by any NGO, and public body while stocks last) as well as free online version for everyone interested. Participants and project staff will encourage the creation of a virtual game communities and clubs of supporters in real life. Envisaged is the production of 1000 copies of physical and approx. 5-6 thousand downloads. The project participants for EU will take part in weekly workshops in central Europe to bring closer the history of the events of 1956. After working with non-formal education methods the culmination of the project is to create a public debate at University with the young participants. Recording and dissemination of the video version. Youth enriched with knowledge of the '56 events proceed to the implementation of the second action. It is creation of a virtual "Monument of Consciousness '56". Young participants (mostly) from Central Europe will create a video showing the history of social change from the citizens point of view (often eye-witnesses) from each of these countries. Pictured is difference of perception of historical events by various national groups, ethnic and religious, which became the direct victim of the communist regime. The video will be places on the website. Graphically it is entered in the form of a monument. Every viewer will be able to choose an every separate short movie, which is a part of a larger whole (gallery). Watch a few movies, depicting events from different perspectives allow the unlocking of the main film material. The material is prepared jointly by applicants and partners. It is "Monument of Consciousness" promoting reconciliation, tolerance, and solidarity in duration with European values.
