»BACK TO THE ROOTS- Short term group EVS

Each individual has it's own field where it grew, roots that are connected to the field and the culture that harvests it. Culture is built up by traditions and generations that shape it. Traditions is a part of each human being and is a carrier and shaper of individual lives. Long time ago tradition and was shaped by tribes and beliefs that we now look at as » pagan«.
Trough this project we what to reconnect with individual's roots and ancestral beliefs, by doing this we also want to address the tradition and culture of EVS, the shaping of EVS through time. The recognition of the EVS »tribe«.
In Slovenia each February of the year we celebrate a »pagan« holiday of »Pust«, the chasing away of winter. We dress in masks and parade around our communities. Just in Slovenia this tradition is so different from region to region.
We believe that each culture has similar celebrations that originate to traditional »pagan« beliefs. By bringing together different volunteers from different countries we build a diverse culture. As EVS also has a tradition and promotes certain beliefs we want to create an EVS tribe that will portray the philosophy of EVS trough a fun and creative way.
For one month the volunteers will be working on understanding their own traditional beliefs and sharing them amongst others, finding difference and similarities.
Trough understanding their own and others beliefs, together they will create costumes, dances, and songs that depict a EVS »tribe«. After all EVS is bringing together diverse cultures and learning by doing.
The final result will be a celebration of the »EVS tribe« on the holiday » Pust«

WHAT KIND OF A VOLUNTEER ARE WE LOOKING FOR:
We are looking for volunteers that are motivated for such a project and love to work in the field of theater and arts. This is a very creative project and also great for building project management skills.. This project INCLUDES people with fewer opportunities.

TASKS OF THE VOLUNTEER:
• Sharing and recognizing treir own traditions trough a presentation of the individuals culture ( food, dance, costumes…
• Creating the idea for the »EVS tribe« trough team work
• Creating costumes for the festival of »Pust«
• Creating animation and dances for the parade
• Carrying out street promotions of EVS- as a »tribe«
