“Art for Accessibility and Inclusion” TC is devoted to equipping youth workers with the competences to use art expression methods in their work.
In the last decades high level of youth unemployment and social exclusion of disadvantaged groups became an alarming issue for European youth work. There is a constant need for increasing motivation and inspiration of young people towards developing their personal and social key competencies to become more successful and integrative in the society.
There are different methods to be applied to youth employability and integration issues acknowledged in youth work. And ones proved to be successful in this field are art expression and improvisation methods.
Expressive art practices being innovative, creative and attractive for young people, build trustful environment for self-discovery, reflection and expression. Both creation process and performance of results, reflection and discussion on main topics and challenges through artistic expression methods can strongly support personal development and give valuable new insights to solving personal and social difficulties. Moreover, these methods contribute to self-assessment and self-presentation skills development which is one of the main criteria for increasing chances for youth to find their place in labor market.
Despite their usefulness and potential as described above, artistic methods are not very wide spread and far away of being in the standard tool box of youth workers. Especially in the EECA region this field is still underdeveloped and it would be therefore highly beneficial to educate multipliers in this field.
The proposed training course “Art for Accessibility and Inclusion” therefore wants to gather 27 youth workers and youth leaders from program and EECA partner countries to explore the potential of artistic forms of expression in (international) youth work setting with disadvantaged groups.
Objectives of the project are:
- To equip youth worker and leader from Program and EECA partner countries with the competences to use artistic forms of expression in their work with young people from disadvantaged groups
- To give the tools to the participants to go through a process of self-expression and personal reflection through art, which will be a necessary base to apply it to their target groups
- To form a network among like-minded organisations and individuals with an interest in long-term cooperation in the field of the training
- To develop follow-up projects for young people with fewer opportunities, which will make use of the new knowledge and competences gained during the training.
