City Arts (Nottingham)
Is Searching Partners for the Project:
Art for All

That will be submitted to National Agency in United Kingdom under action KA1 Youth Worker Mobility
This project is targeting promoters established in Programme Countries

Vision of the project
Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that “everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.” Cultural rights are, therefore, inseparable from human rights, as recognized in Article 5 of the 2001 UNESCO Declaration on Cultural Diversity, and can be defined as the right of access to, participation in and enjoyment of culture and art.

Unfortunately, not everyone is participating equally in the cultural life of the community, because of different hindering factors. People from disadvantaged groups (people suffering from mental, - or physical disabilities, refugees, ethnic minorities, early school leavers, etc.) are experiencing difficulties in engaging in art and culture, while they are typically in a higher risk of social exclusion than the general population.

At the same time art has a vital role in creating more inclusive and culturally diverse societies. By using artistic expression young people with disadvantaged backgrounds can engage, express themselves, learn and find their way back to the community.

Hence, the aim of this project is to strengthen youth organisations capacity to support the inclusion of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds by using artistic methods.

Objectives:
• Help youth workers to reflect upon the importance of inclusive and diverse societies
• Give youth workers examples of best practices of using art as a tool for inclusion of different marginalised groups (mental illness, disabilities, early school leavers, refugees/ ethnic minorities)
• Provide youth workers with artistic tools and methods to help and support marginalised young people’s inclusion into the community
• To increase youth workers’ awareness about social exclusion and inclusion
• Provide youth workers with a better understanding of and skills on how to employ EU programmes in their work with inclusion.

Activities of the project:
In order to meet with the aim and objectives of the project two activities have been identified as follows:
1. 7-day (plus 2 travel days) Study Visit (expected date: 18.05.-26.05.2020.) in Nottingham, the UK
2. 8-day (plus 2 travel days) Training Course (expected date: 16.11.-25.11.2020.) in Slettestrand, Denmark

The target group of both activities are youth workers from the partner organizations, who work with young people with disadvantaged background.

The project aspires to educate youth workers on how to support disadvantaged groups’ inclusion into the society through art. Participants will obtain relevant artistic tools and methods to effectively work with youngsters. Not only will they exchange ideas/experiences, they will also draw inspiration from seasoned artistic entrepreneurs. Through this, they will receive best practices and efficient strategies in relation to their work with disadvantaged groups.

Partner Responsibilities:
It is the overall responsibility of all partners to make sure the aim and objectives of this project is aligned with their organisations’ and to adhere to the Memorandum of Understanding.

The partners are expected to nominate 3-4 participants to each activity, who are relevant to the topic of the project.

Prior to the activities the applicant organisation will provide detailed information as preparation for the participants. The partners are expected to ensure that the selected participants are well prepared in every way for example: language, expectations, travel arrangements etc.

After the project, participants, together with their organisations, will make dissemination of the project to create visibility and utilise the results. The project manager and participants will come up with dissemination strategies as part of the project.

Contribution expected:
The partners and the participants are expected to engage themselves fully to the project, its aim and its objectives. In addition, strong commitment to exploit and disseminate the result of the project is expected.

When sending participants, it is the organisations own responsibility to find appropriate participants and the most suitable forms of transportation for them.
