Are You Queer? (Training Course)

Are You Queer or gender equality and sexuality in its complex historical and cultural formation, its issues and queer subculture, through the visual arts

Are You Queer want to cause a productive dialogue between youth workers, artists and sociologists enlarged Europe on the theme of gender equality and sexuality in its complex historical and cultural formation, its issues and queer subculture, through the visual arts. Our main objective is the creation of educational tools for young people to think about gender through visual arts.

To achieve this goal, we plan to bring together youth workers, visual artists, activists and theorists of the genre from different parts of Europe to discuss their personal and professional experiences of the influence of visual arts on the conception of gender and sex. This dialogue will be built through exchange workshops and training using non-formal learning methods: discussions, theater, visual productions, group writing, practical and physical activities. All workshops will be led by the participants for participants according to taste and expertise of each one. During the workshops, the group will have to develop and implement tools and exercises using visual arts to address the issue of gender and queer subculture. All workshops will lead to the creation of multilingual gender/queer art books, educational activism objects made of stories and images.

20 participants. 15 days. Sesimbra, Portugal
