Prison Staff Training 4.0: AI, AR/VR & Immersive Learning
Our project explores how AI, AR/VR, simulation and immersive learning can transform prison staff training and better prepare professionals for the realities of their daily work.
Our Prison Staff Training Centre in Türkiye provides professional and in-service training for prison staff working across the country, including newly recruited prison officers and experienced staff who work directly and continuously with incarcerated people.
Prison staff work in a complex environment and regularly encounter situations requiring effective communication, empathy, ethical decision-making, conflict management, psychological resilience and respect for human rights and human dignity. We believe that these competencies cannot be developed through theoretical training alone. Staff need opportunities to experience situations, make decisions, see possible consequences and reflect on their responses before encountering similar situations in real life.
Our idea is to transform real professional situations into realistic, interactive and immersive training scenarios. Through AI, AR/VR, 360° video, simulation and virtual characters, trainees could enter simulated situations, communicate with virtual characters, make professional decisions and experience different outcomes based on their choices.
The scenarios would focus on areas such as communication, conflict, crisis situations, ethical dilemmas, empathy, human rights, human dignity and professional behaviour. They would be developed as educational simulations based on real training needs, without reproducing real people or incidents.
We are looking for European partners with expertise in AI, AR/VR, immersive learning, simulation, digital education, interactive content and educational technology. We are particularly interested in technology companies, AR/VR studios, universities, research centres and innovative education organisations.
We are not simply looking for partners to demonstrate existing technologies. We want to learn, exchange expertise, experiment and co-develop practical training scenarios and digital educational content.
Possible cooperation may include study visits, job shadowing, workshops, technology demonstrations, professional exchanges and the joint development of pilot applications.
Our long-term goal is to develop a sustainable Immersive Prison Staff Training Model that can be integrated into our existing professional and in-service training programmes.
Technology is the means; professional transformation is the goal. We want to prepare prison staff who are ethically aware, empathetic, psychologically resilient and professionally competent, with a strong commitment to human rights and human dignity.
