AI 4 SMEs: Practical Skills for the Digital Transition of Small and Medium Enterprises

AI 4 SMEs unites European VET and SME-support orgs to create practical, low-cost AI models, boosting skills, competitiveness, and collaboration.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are central to Europe’s economy but often face challenges in adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) due to limited resources and lack of practical, replicable models. “AI 4 Crafts & SMEs” addresses this gap by opening training organizations to production contexts and creating shared learning spaces where digital experts and SMEs collaborate. Through on-the-job training, technical support, and transnational exchange of best practices, the project strengthens digital skills, competitiveness, and structured cooperation between training systems and SMEs, directly contributing to Erasmus+ priorities on digital inclusion, innovation, and capacity building.

Project Structure
WP0 – Project Management and Coordination: Efficient coordination, planning, monitoring, and reporting among European partners.
WP1 – AI Business Audit & Best Practices: Workshops to map SME digital needs and exchange low-cost AI adoption models.
WP2 – “AI in Company” Training Modules: Development and piloting of practical micro-modules, with experts as role models, to integrate AI into SME operations.
WP3 – Tutor Training and Mixed Pilots: Short sessions for tutors and trainers, experimenting with AI-assisted workflows and establishing cooperation protocols.

Small Scale Partnership - KA210-VET
The project aims to involve 3–4 European partners, including training providers and research institutions, promoting exchange of methodologies, validation of training modules, and creation of replicable solutions. Transnational collaboration ensures scalability, sustainability, and alignment with EU digital and skills agendas.

Impact and Sustainability.
AI 4 Crafts & SMEs generates immediate impact by enabling SMEs to adopt practical AI solutions, while building a long-term framework for digital skills, open educational resources, and structured cooperation between training organizations and enterprises. The approach fosters European-level convergence toward digital standards and enhances competitiveness across sectors.
