Active Youth, Strong Society: Democratic Participation and Leadership Project

Our project delivers a holistic learning experience from a youth work practice perspective, enabling young people to embrace democratic values and strengthen active citizenship; through practical applications such as election campaign and municipal council simulations, it helps them internalize democratic processes and participate more effectively in community decision-making. Workshops and simulations develop their capacity to analyze complex social issues, think critically, and generate effective solutions, with outcomes intended to extend beyond the project period into their careers and daily lives. Debates, discussion sessions, and intercultural activities heighten political, social, and cultural awareness; by addressing fundamental human rights, citizenship, and freedom of expression, the project ensures that young people understand both their rights and the responsibilities that accompany them. NGO visits and engagement with local authorities build insight into how civil society functions and encourage sustained participation. Bringing together participants from different countries nurtures intercultural competence and a global outlook, while sessions on presentation skills, applications of the “Circular Leadership” model, and personal development strengthen communication, expression, leadership, and self-awareness. Networking and collaboration opportunities—supported by inspiring role models—motivate youth to act for social change; thus, the project empowers them to become active, informed, and responsible citizens who drive positive transformation in society.
