The short-term EVS project is aimed at promotion of sport and outdoor activities for social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities.

The short-term EVS project is aimed at promotion of sport and outdoor activities for equal participation and social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities. The activities of the project will be lead by 2 local volunteers and 2 volunteers from Greece and Hungary. The “Great Silk Way” International Youth Union will play hosting and coordinating roles in this project. The project will take place in Quba region of Azerbaijan and will address the issues of social inclusion of young people with cultural differences, social and geographical obstacles through the promotion of sport and outdoor activities. The duration of the Service will be 2 months. As an outdoor activities young people will work in a team and they will do environmental activities like planting, placing recycle bins near the passages of the natural parks, preparation of the posters for awareness raising about the protection of environment. Joint team activities will promote the mutual understanding between different groups of young people. The sport activities (team games like football, volleyball and others) will promote the understanding of equality between different groups of young people. The project themes of the project: social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities through the sport and outdoor activities; equal participation; fighting discrimination and xenophobia; intercultural dialogue for inclusion of young people with cultural differences; rural youth development; European awareness; Anti-discrimination; Education through sport and outdoor activities; Gender equality; Inter-religious dialogue; Minorities; Disability; Environment; Health; Non-discrimination based on sexual orientation.
The project has the following objectives: to promote the mutual understanding between local youth and young people with fewer opportunities; to develop the European awareness among the young people from the rural regions of Azerbaijan through the involvement of EVS volunteers; to break the stereotypes between you people and young people with fewer opportunities through organization of sport and outdoor activities; to facilitate the sport and outdoor activities which will promote the healthy lifestyle and raise awareness about the environmental challenges among the local communities.
