Title of the project:
Active Citizenship is one of the most important parts of democracy. It’s disappointing that nowadays not a lot of youngsters interested and involved in the policy-making process. A young generation can’t take part in making important decisions, they cant manage to influence governments. It seems that youngsters are not active enough to make positive changes and defend their interests in political areas. It should be noted that this problem is more actual in the eastern part of Europe and also in the Caucasus.

Venue: International Scout Center Rustavi, Georgia
Aim:
The main aim of our project is to show participants the importance of active citizenship. We want youngsters to know that they can be part of political life and it’s possible for them to make positive changes in their environment. Additionally, we will find out how government works on youth activities, what is their priorities and methodology.
The aim of the project is to teach youngsters how to influence government and show them that there are lots of different ways of being an active citizen.
Goals:
1. To teachparticipants how to write Petition about different subjects.
2. Participants study public debates, how to make public speeches and work with different people in the same group.
3. Participants study how to take part in elections with model activities.
4. To share experience between European and Non-European youngsters, also compare them and find differences and similarities.
5. Increase the motivation of young people to be active citizens.
6. To understand the need for active citizenship for everyone around Europe and beyond

Program and topics:

The youth exchange will consist of practical as well as theoretical blocs. Participants will receive complete information about the subject. Through the experience of communicational, group working and competitive activities youngsters will gain some new skills. Additionally, we will have a meeting with officials from Rustavi youth center to see what kind of youth activities they are doing, what is their priorities how they are working.
We have an intensive program full with outdoor and indoor activities: Meeting with children from day center and have a workshop with them in the city center, Graffiti making activity in different parts of Rustavi, workshops about petition writing, public debates, presentation making and model elections.

Working language:

English – all participants must be able to actively communicate using the English language.

Who we are:
Association Georgian Youth for Europe (GYE) was founded in 2006 by the leaders of the KvemoKartli Organization of Scout Movement. Majority of social workers and other employees of the organization have passed at least 1-year volunteering program (EVS) in different European countries, specializing in different directions. Since 2006 GYE has been organizing and leading more than 100 European projects under the youth, youth in action, Erasmus+ programs. (Youth exchanges, Seminars, Training, Study Visits,etc.). Since 2011 Organization is SALTO-EECAMultiplier of Youth in Action, Erasmus+ programs in Georgia.
The organization is actively involved in the various content of non-formal education programs and
Projects (out-door and adventure education, environment, healthy lifestyle, human rights, etc.).GYE works mainly with young people aged 12 – 25 but also with adults. The mission of Georgian
Youth for Europe (hereafter GYE) is to empower youth of KvemoKartlito achieve their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual potential both as individuals and as responsible citizens. GYE pursues multiple program directions to achieve this mission. It promotes: learning through peer-education training and workshops on art and management; healthy lifestyles by organizing outdoor activities, hobby clubs, and first aid courses; democratic principles by offering trainings on human rights; environmentally-conscious behavior by raising public awareness about environmental issues through demonstrations, yard clean-up campaigns, after-school environmental education, movie-making on environmental problems,Eco Gardens, and activities to recycle litter it into saleable products.


Funding:

100% of the costs for accommodation and food will be covered. We will contribute to your travel costs depending on the distance of your country to Georgia (e.g. for Slovaks traveling to Georgia we contribute 360 € per participant). There is no participation fee.
