It’s an international project focused on accessibility and inclusivity in public spaces, cultural institutions and digital environments.
Access+ is an international youth exchange project focused on accessibility, universal design and social inclusion in public spaces, cultural institutions and digital environments. The project responds to the growing need to raise awareness among young people about barriers faced by people with disabilities and to equip them with practical tools to actively support accessibility in their local communities.
The project brings together young people aged 16–25 from Poland, Spain and Ukraine, including participants with fewer opportunities. Through non-formal education methods, participants will explore topics such as architectural accessibility, digital accessibility (including WCAG standards), communication accessibility and inclusive public spaces.
A key element of the project is hands-on learning. Participants will work in international teams to conduct real accessibility audits in cultural institutions and public spaces (e.g. cinemas, museums), analyse barriers and develop practical recommendations for improvement. This approach allows young people to combine theory with real-life experience and understand accessibility as a concrete, achievable process rather than an abstract concept.
The project also promotes intercultural cooperation, civic engagement and environmental awareness, highlighting the connection between sustainable development and universal design. Participants will develop competences in teamwork, communication, problem-solving and youth work practices that can be applied in education, employment and social initiatives.
Access+ aims to achieve both short- and long-term impact. In the short term, participants will gain knowledge and practical skills related to accessibility and inclusion. In the long term, the project seeks to inspire young people to become local change-makers, implement accessibility recommendations in institutions and promote inclusive attitudes in their communities. Project results, including educational materials and accessibility reports, will be widely disseminated to support other organisations and initiatives across Europe.
