Abstract KA2 - Creative Entrepreneurs at school

The aim of ‘Creative entrepreneurs at school’ is to work with young people in designing, building and managing a school orchard with innovative methodologies that will help them to improve entrepreneur skills needed for their future and to spread the results by implementing the methodologies in other schools.

To do so, activities proposed in the project must, as a first objective, provide students, teachers and educators a set of high quality skills and competences throughout school education, because of the huge amount of basic and transversal competences acquired in the project.

The main aim of the project, far from being the very construction of a school orchard - which will help generate future own activities within the school and improve the holistic education of the center - it will be the process itself, where the students will be the centre of the activity. Through design thinking and critical thinking processes, the creation of a design project for spaces will be guided, learning to manage complex processes, team work, managing time, encouraging curiosity and self-learning, equipping students with tools to improve their communication and networking, in addition to many other high quality skills and competencies that they will acquire while developing the project.

It is fundamental to give teachers and educators the tools to work with students during the implementation of this kind of projects: design thinking methodologies, tools used in the world of entrepreneurship to manage complex problems, new technologies used for work in network, a guide with the main aspects about the main object of work such as school orchards and urban orchards.

High-schools are the best target of the project, because most of the students which obtain a highschool-level degree did either go directly to the labour market, decided to start their own business or continued expanding their qualifications. Giving highschool students skills and tools related to entrepreneurship could help them generating innovative initiatives or finding better, more qualified and better paid jobs.
