"A WAY" ACTIVE ELDERS, AN ASSET IN YOUTH WORK!!!

Older persons, whether experienced youth workers or interested in becoming one, have a lot to offer, both to the youth in need, and to younger youth workers.

Most youth workers who participate in Erasmus+ youth exchanges and training seminars, are not much older than the youth they aim to support in developing competencies and addressing various needs and challenges which youth face nowadays.

Older youth workers rarely participate in youth exchanges and seminars and when they do participate, they tend to keep a lower profile in group discussions, debates and presentations, than younger youth workers. We believe that older persons, whether experienced youth workers or interested in becoming one, have a lot to offer, both to the youth in need, and to younger youth workers. They can challenge the mind set of many younger youth workers and provide them with stimulation for reviewing certain assumptions about life, both professional and personal.

The Training Course "A WAY" "Active elders – an Asset in Youth Work” aims to give the opportunity to young youth workers come into extensive contact with active elders who are considered experienced and successful within their community, and at the same time interested in becoming youth workers themselves. The participants will be from all age groups and will closely interact with active elders from different nationalities living in the hosting country, to focus on soft skills/competencies and values that normally are acquired over a long period of time and are an essential in being good at youth work.
