Participatory youth culture and music festival. https://www.57festival.de/ Location: Karlsfeld near Munich, Germany
The 57 Festival is a participatory youth culture and music festival that is organized by young people on a voluntary basis. They are supported by the cultural educators of the Kreisjugendring Dachau (educational organization).
Location: Munich, Germany
Target group: Young people aged 13-30
The core of our work is the democratically organized, year-round participation process of the festival planning team and the festival itself.
We also plan for the whole year temporary Events from 3 hours to 3 days (Get-Connected events).
We expect 30-40 participants in the festival planning team, 100-300 young people and 1500 visitors during the festival period (setup, festival, dismantling), and 200 participants and 200 visitors in the Get-Connected events.
The festival includes a professional MAIN STAGE with three bands that should be of interest to as many young people aged 13-25 as possible.
The second area is a free OPEN SPACE area, with a professionally equipped youth stage. This is run exclusively by young people, they take care of the organization, band selection, sound, lighting & stage technology and stage management, we invite young up-and-coming artists to apply for a performance. We see the festival as a platform for creative young people and civil society, which is why we invite young people, groups and clubs to become visible in the OPEN SPACE area with their own stand, creative ideas, art or construction activities and to help shape the festival.
The goals of the festival project are
1. Promoting young up-and-coming artists in the fields of music, DJ, dance, performance, visual arts.
2. Involvement of young people in the organization and implementation of the festival, associated with the socio-politically and culturally empowering experience of experiencing their own relevance and visibility in public life and public space, as well as developing skills in cultural management.
3. To reach as many young people as possible, which is why we rely on very inexpensive ticket prices and mainstream music. Young people from social welfare institutions and JULEICA holders can participate free of charge and we cooperate with surrounding schools.
4. Strengthening volunteerism and networking in the region
5. Strengthening youth work in Karlsfeld
6. Democracy education: all decision-making processes in the festival team are transparent and democratic. The young people determine, among other things, such fundamental decisions as the selection of all bands and the design, i.e. the cultural expressions of the festival. This is our unique selling point in the Upper Bavarian region; at comparable festivals, booking is in the hands of professionals. Our public relations work is also designed by volunteer designers. We thus offer young people an enormously high level of cultural and social participation.
We strive to reach educationally disadvantaged and socially disadvantaged groups, to improve accessibility and inclusion and to promote the participation of young people with disabilities.
The festival is also linked to the cultural education concept in the Karlsfeld youth center. Parallel to the festival, we organize workshops in the areas of music, DJing and visual arts, the results of which will be incorporated into the festival.
The date of the festival may still change slightly.
We are looking for partners who are active in the following areas:
• Participation of young people aged 13-30
• Pop culture music, graphics, design, dance, performance, democracy education, concerts, DJ, event management, event technology, promotion of young artists.
Ideally with their own festival, their own institution or their own mobile work area in this field.
An organization from the cultural education or democracy education field would be nice, but we are also open to informal groups or collectives.
