Youth Employment and Society Development

‘Youth Employment and Society Development’ (YESD) social enterprise is experienced working with youth workers and international volunteers from America, England, Netherland, France, Spain, Italy and many other countries in coordinating to develop capacity building activities and projects. YESD designs program as follow:

1. Career targeted programs for disadvantaged youth

We recognize the real situation is that students from Universities just have theory and lack of practical skills which prevent them from approaching good jobs. That causes the problem of high unemployment rate and a paradox (While the number of graduates is high, it is insufficient of qualified staff in many businesses). It is especially noticeable in vulnerable group. From the very young age, they have little chance to access better education. Facilities and equipment in their school is very basic and they even cannot afford to those things.
Our activities:
A, For those who want to develop language capacity and life skills: We train those students in life values, soft skills and language skills to help these teenagers realize their real potential and strength which motivate them follow the correct path to success both in career and in life. They are equipped with knowledge related to global development, global crisis, economy situation and context, factors enabling and challenging economy, environment and society development. With the non-formal education method, we organize training courses in ‘learning by doing’ approach where young people get knowledge by experiencing the real projects.

B, For those who want to work in tourism sector: We provide 6-month training course in English and tourism skills. The training equips those students with necessary tourism skills, full-fill themselves to have very good foundation to work in tourism sector. After the training, those disadvantage students can stay and work for YESD social enterprise or we connect with other travel companies so that they can work there. Our trainees not only obtain knowledge and skills in hospitality but also specialize in sustainable tourism because one of the main core values of YESD is developing sustainable tourism.
Goal: Create job opportunities for young people with few opportunities so that we can reduce the high unemployment rate among graduates in Vietnam

2. Responsible tourism
The uncertainty of unstructured and un-organized tourism service from local household brings negative effects to the environment and cause unsustainable development. With the explosion of tourism in Vietnam, it has destroyed some natures, landscapes and they turn out to become touristic places. It demolishes the culture of the locals and all the beauty of traditions. YESD would like provide responsible tours where everybody has certain responsibility to preserve traditions and culture of the local place, to protect the environment and to contribute to the economic development.
With our main goal is to spread the concept of sustainable tourism to every tourist, tour operator and local people, YESD has designed campaigns to raise awareness of people about sustainable tourism.
Every party participates in this sector having responsibility to follow responsible tourism guidelines to develop natural environment, economy and socio-cultural of the project sites in particular and country in general.

Activities:
- Organize training courses and campaigns to raise awareness of people in sustainable tourism and motivate them follow sustainable tourism guidelines
- Provide tourists with responsible tours where they can contribute to the local community development in environment, society and economy aspects. And they will be deep into the local life with discovering local breath, culture and traditions.

3. Build capacity for local people in Hill tribes in sustainable tourism

This is the combination of education and responsible tourism. We do research about the project site and choose the local place with potential to develop responsible tourism. With the success in Ha Giang responsible tourism model, YESD replicates this to apply in other areas, aiming in building capacity for local people and supporting them in develop responsible tourism area to increase livelihood, increase job creation, preserve the traditions and culture and protect the environment
Activities:
- Teach local people in English and Responsible tourism skills to become tour guides and tour managers
- Organize workshops and trainings to provide local people with managing skills so that they can manage tourism activities
- Help local people preserve the traditions by maintaining traditional products
- Help local people open more tourism service: homestay, herbal bath, handicraft…
- Instruct local people in doing marketing for tours
- And many other activities
4. Volunteer projects
We offer volunteer projects so that a group of young people can contribute their young age, energy and enthusiasm to the local community. Our project sites are all from very remote areas where the local people really need support to develop.
