Young Folks LV

Young Folks LV is a youth organisation in Riga, Latvia. In 2012 Young Folks LV was established as an informal youth group and since July 2014, we have been the official NGO with a target audience of 13-25-years-old young people. We are modern, active and open-minded youth from Riga, the capital of Latvia. Young Folks LV provides non-formal learning of useful competences and skills for young people. Our youth work is dedicated to foster young people’s employment and their entrepreneurial spirit. We offer regular learning course 'School of professions' where the teenagers learn about professions, how to make the choice for high education and future job, and how to be competitive on the labour market. Young Folks LV helps teenagers in realising their own creative ideas and getting finance on the local level, organises non-formal learning of foreign languages and career guidance. Young Folks LV also supports teenagers during the international youth exchanges under Erasmus+/Youth in Action Programme. We are very interested in meeting new people from all over the world, we like to travel, discover new cultures and lifestyle, we want to communicate in English and learn other languages, get new experience and great memories! On the 1st of September 2014 Young Folks became one of the four finalists of the project "Reach for Change", as a result, Young Folks were included as a participant in a business incubator with their project «Youth Centre of Social Entrepreneurship», the main idea of the project is that children teach children. Therefore, within this project the youth give language classes and various workshops to other youngsters. So, there are many divisions in the organisation: music, sport, photography, cooking, theatre, cinema, volunteering, dancing, art, etc. Each division has its leader who develops further it together with a team. It is a great opportunity for youngsters to participate in such groups, which are formed according to their interests, and there, they can apply the knowledge and skills that they acquire from Erasmus+ programme to their future activities. Moreover, youngsters take part in learning programme dedicated to project writing; they also work in their teams so that to write projects and implement them with a high quality.
